THE OLIVE PRESS

The Olive Press follows a family's deep-seated conflicts and struggles that erupt when their daughter falls into a coma, forcing them to confront their identities, faith, and hopes against the backdrop of their cherished but contentious olive plantation in the Chouf mountains of Lebanon. 

The Olive Press is an adaptation of El Kadi’s short film Baadarane, which is produced by Route 243 and is currently in post-production. 


THE BLOOMS

A period musical exploring the rise of Palestine’s first rock band Al-Bara’em in the 1960s, which Ashrawi’s father and uncle led. Ashrawi has collaborated with a wide range of notable figures in music and entertainment, including Megan Thee Stallion, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Chris Rock, and Pharrell. His work has been featured in prominent outlets such as Rolling Stone, Complex, Texas Monthly, and Okayplayer.

Set between the immediate aftermath of 9/11 in New York and an alternative “ecotopian”
Universe where ecology and alchemy form the bedrock of the Beehive society, an Afro-Arab chemistry wizard inadvertently travels from one timeline to another in search of her missing mother.

The project received development support from the New York Council on the Arts, the North Manhattan Alliance for the Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Jerome Foundation, and the Arab Fund for Arts & Culture. 


MOKEB

A feature adaptation of the off-Broadway hit Mokeb that premiered at the Chain Theater to sold-out audiences in February 2025. Mokeb is a road trip comedy about a millennial’s spiritual journey across Iraq’s Arbaeen pilgrimage from Najaf to Karbala.
